It was nice to enter the Memorial Day holiday period, and unofficial start of Summer 2014, with another pleasantly crisp air mass following 0.50" to 1.50" of rain. Formation of these nice mountain wave clouds being merely an added bonus!
MINS dropped into the 34 to 40 degree range amid higher valleys from the City of Norton across the High Knob Massif into morning hours of May 24 ( at elevations above 2000-2700 feet ).

Mountain waves of May 23 formed on NNW-NW air flow of 10-20 mph across the High Knob Massif, where afternoon air temperatures hovered around 60 degrees at highest elevations.

Places of particular interest have been graphically highlighted and consist of a couple of distinct areas of stacked lenticular mountain waves that remain in place over time, as noted by using arrow keys to increase the speed of motion in the picture viewer.
Changes in both the number of layers stacked and their shapes occur as air flows through the standing waves in which they have formed, amid a general NW flow regime across the High Knob Massif.
